Summit CU’s Co-op Event Attracts 4,000 People

MADISON, Wis.––Nearly 30 cooperatives participated in and nearly 4,000 people turned out for Summit Credit Union’s 5th annual Co-op Connection, held at the capitol square here.

The Co-ops engaged the attendees in learning about the many options cooperatives provide consumers, including groceries, technology, yoga, engineering, outdoor gear, housing, financial services and more, Summit CU reported.

Attendees enjoyed talking with co-ops, music, kids activities, drawings, sampling and purchasing cooperative products in the event, which kicked off National Cooperative Month.

“Co-op Connection is a fun, engaging way for the public to learn about the cooperative business model and the many options available through cooperatives,” said Summit CEO and President Kim Sponem. “Cooperative businesses are in a unique position to enhance the local economy. We are, by nature, locally owned, and that’s something to celebrate. We appreciate the cooperatives and attendees for making the event a great success.”

The $2.3-billion Summit CU has more than 150,000 members.
