FORT MYERS, Fla.—Suncoast Credit Union is partnering with Florida Southwestern State College to build the Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
The 75,000-square-foot facility in Fort Myers will host the FSW Buccaneers' basketball and volleyball teams, a student athletic center and other facilities. It will seat about 3,300 fans and include six skyboxes, and also will host concerts and local, regional and national events.
A groundbreaking is expected this summer with an estimated completion by fall 2016, according to the parties involved, who did not release the financial terms of the agreement. Suncoast Credit Union will also provide scholarship funding for students and expects to bring financial literacy programs to the community.
The $6-billion Suncoast CU also recently signed on as a sponsor for the Gasparilla International Film Festival.
