SANTA CLARA, Calif.–Financial services firms were among the big advertisers during yesterday’s Super Bowl. At least six different financial services companies aired TV spots aimed at the game’s estimated 100 million viewers, even with ads costing $5 million for 30 seconds of airtime.
The Super Bowl ads show the growth in financial services, and especially digital wallets and online offerings. The 2015 Super Bowl featured just two financial services firms as advertisers; the 2014 game had three such advertisers.
Among the companies paying for TV time were PayPal, SunTrust Banks Inc., Quicken Loans Inc. and Social Finance Inc., also known as SoFi.
