WASHINGTON—NAFCU staff discussed the sustainability and environmental stewardship efforts of federal credit unions – specifically electric vehicle loans – in a meeting Tuesday with White House Federal Chief Sustainability Officer Christine Harada.
In attendance were NAFCU Executive Vice President of Government Affairs and General Counsel Carrie Hunt, Chief Economist and Director of Research Curt Long and Regulatory Affairs Counsel Kavitha Subramanian.
Harada’s office is responsible for promoting sustainability and environmental stewardship throughout federal government operations. The office’s specific focus is to oversee the successful implementation of executive orders on federal environmental performance, including the federal goals for greenhouse emissions reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation and documenting the economic benefits of environmental performance.
NAFCU also discussed the current work of federal credit unions related to sustainable building and transportation issues.
