Thanks to 2 CUs, Thanksgiving Meals Being Served to Firefighters, Military

SANTA FE, N.M.—Credit unions in two different markets will be helping some people to have a better Thanksgiving tomorrow.

Del Norte Credit Union here will be providing a warm and delicious holiday meal to many of the area’s on duty firefighters. This year the list of recipients includes seven Santa Fe County fire stations, five Los Alamos County fire stations as well as Española Fire Rescue.

“It just makes sense for us to make the day a little brighter for these public servants who keep our communities safe, especially since many of them will miss their family meals,” says Chuck Valenti, president/CEO of Del Norte Credit Union.

The turkey meals with all the trimmings are being ordered through several local food restaurants/caterers.

This is the third consecutive year that Del Norte has provided holiday meals to on-duty firefighters.

Separately, America First donated $10,000 in turkeys to Nellis Air Force Base through Operation Warmheart. In partnership with Smith’s Food & Drug, the credit union purchased $10,000 in turkeys, equating to turkeys for 700 military personnel from Creech and Nellis Air Force Bases and their families this Thanksgiving holiday. Operation Warmheart is an organization made up of volunteer military members who help fellow airmen and their families in times of need.
