SCRANTON, Pa. — The $209-million Tobyhanna FCU will change its name to Valor Credit Union in January.
According to the CU’s website, the new name, in part, will eliminate the misperception of exclusive ties to Tobyhanna Army Depot employees and military personnel. The credit union’s membership includes more than 500 businesses and associations across Northeast Pennsylvania.
While the credit union will remove “Federal” from its marketing name, it has not switched charters. The CU stated that “Federal” was removed from the advertising name “to minimize confusion about membership eligibility. Our trade name is Valor Federal Credit Union.”
