MIRAMAR, Fla.–Tropical Financial Credit Union said it has expanded its field of membership into five additional Florida counties, including Lee, Collier, Hendry, Martin and St. Lucie.
The credit union already serves Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties in southeast Florida.
“The time was right to reach outside of the tri-county area,” said Richard Helber, president and CEO. “After doing our research, we determined that consumers in Southwest Florida and on the Treasure Coast who are interested in joining a credit union don’t have a whole lot of options. We are now giving them a new opportunity.”
Tropical Financial said it will market to prospective new members primarily online as there are no plans to open new branches in the expanded service area.
The $575-million Tropical Financial has nearly 54,000 members.
