Two Credit Unions In Texas Announce Merger Plan

EL PASO, Texas—The $518-million Teachers FCU here said it will be absorbing via merger the $61-million Golden Key FCU.

GKFCU’s 5,500 members have already voted in favor of the combination. Golden Key FCU’s one branch will become the ninth branch of Teachers Federal when the merger is completed. Senior management at Golden Key FCU, including CEO Frank Shindo, Jr., will all remain with the merged CU. The deal is awaiting approval from NCUA.
