Two Credit Unions Name New CEOs

Pat Force, Valley CU

SALEM, Ore.–Two credit unions have named new CEOs.

The $68-million Valley Credit Union has named Pat Force to take over as the new president/CEO. Force is a 26-year veteran of credit unions, serving most recently as CFO for Northwest Community Credit Union in Eugene, Ore.

“Our board feels fortunate to have connected with a strong, seasoned individual who brings professional and technical depth along with a value driven leadership style which clearly represents and aligns with our long standing mission of "people helping people,” said Denny Nielsen, chairman of Valley board of directors’ selection committee.

“I’m truly excited to partner with the board and staff of Valley Credit Union as we serve the membership together,” said Force. “I look forward to being a part of a team that is focused on helping our members achieve their financial goals.”

Meanwhile, in Harahan, La., ASI FCU has named Sonya Jarvis as its new president and CEO.  Jarvis succeeds Mignhon Tourne’, who is retiring after serving as ASI FCU’s CEO for more than nine years.

“The board of directors is very pleased for our membership to have Sonya assume the role of president/CEO,” said ASI FCU Chairman Martha Castillo. “Sonya has extensive operations and financial management experience and is just the individual to lead us on our continuing effort to offer an economic lifeline to low and moderate income individuals and families that have been abandoned by commercial banks and targeted by high-priced check cashers and predatory lenders,”

Jarvis comes to ASI FCU after spending the last eight years with Business First Bank in Baton Rouge, La., where she served as executive vice president, chief operating officer/chief risk officer. Jarvis has also worked as an NCUA examiner.
