ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—U.S. New Mexico FCU has changed its name to U.S. Eagle FCU.
The credit union has been using “The Eagle” in its branding prior to the official name change, which also comes with new colors, a new logo, and a new tagline, “Where everyone belongs.”
The credit union said the shorter name and previous use of The Eagle branding helped to inspire the name change for the 80,000-member credit union.
The new name was developed internally and the name itself came from a member suggestion, according to the CU, which said it did consult with a few ad agencies while making the change. The Eagle FCU will also be expanding its branch presence in 2015 with new offices in Farmington, N.M, and Santa Fe, N.M.
In a statement on its website, U.S. Eagle said, “For years, our members have called us, ‘The Eagle.’ We love our members and we love their ideas, so we decided to make the name official by combining ‘Eagle’ with ‘U.S.’ Our new name is a natural and meaningful transition from our old name. U.S. Eagle, symbolizes our rich heritage, the aspirations of our members, and the high level of service that is the same for all, regardless of the number of zeros in an account. At U.S. Eagle, every member is celebrated as an essential part of the whole. We are U.S. Eagle, Where Everyone Belongs.”
It is the second name change by a large credit union in this market in the span of a few months, with New Mexico Educators FCU having recently changed its name to Nusenda.
