USU CU In Naming Deal for Stadium Concourses

LOGAN, Utah—USU Credit Union is donating $2 million to Utah State University’s Maverik Stadium, school officials announced.

The CU, a division of the $1.1-billion Goldenwest CU in Ogden, Utah, will have the south and west concourses of the stadium named after it.

The gift is the fifth seven-figure donation to the renovation project on the stadium’s west side, which is currently underway and is expected to be completed next year.

“We love the university and what the university is all about, expanding in the Mountain West Conference. We were started by two USU professors, so we’re part of the fabric of the university, supporting it,” Goldenwest President and CEO Kerry Wahlen told HJnews.com, referring to the founding of the USU Credit Union in 1957. In 2013, USU Credit Union merged with Goldenwest.

Earlier this year USU Credit Union donated $3 million to the college for its new Welcome Center, which will include USU office space and a USU branch.

“They really are stepping up and making some commitments and investments in Utah State University,” Rob Behunin, the university’s VP for commercialization and advancement, told the news outlet.
