LOS ANGELES—University Credit Union has introduced a Hometown Hero checking account and loans, which deliver special benefits to police officers, firefighters, nurses and others who serve the community and country.
The $542-million CU said it is “rewarding Hometown Heroes who put their lives on the line every day to help our university communities.”
Hometown Heroes are anyone eligible to join the CU who hold one of the following occupations:
- Police officer
- Firefighter
- Hospital staff
- EMT
- Paramedic
- Active duty military
Hometown Heroes receive free checking with no minimum balance required, overdraft waiver, free box of basic checks, free instant issue on debit or credit cards, free mobile bill pay and more.
On loans, Heroes can refinance their current auto loan and get a 0.25% rate discount, as well as get the same discount on new and used vehicle loans. The package also provides a no credit qualifying $2,500 equipment loan for 24 months, plus $10,000 free rewards points for opening a new MasterCard.
