CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va.–University of Virginia Community CU is expanding into Culpeper, Fauquier and Rappahannock counties via a merger with Warrenton, Va.-based Northern Piedmont FCU.
The merger will be official on Feb. 1.
Janine Williams, spokeswoman for U.Va. Community Credit Union, said the bank saw increased demand, particularly for those who worked in Orange County but lived in other areas. The $18-million Northern Piedmont has 3,775 members.
