Utah Jazz, Mountain America Name Winners of $25,000

SALT LAKE CITY—The Utah Jazz and Mountain America Credit Union today announced The Sharing Place in Salt Lake City as this season’s fourth recipient of “Pass It Along,” a program featuring fan nomination opportunities that will award a total of $25,000 to five local charitable organizations.

The community outreach program is sponsored by the team and the credit union.

The Sharing Place was presented with a $5,000 donation during a recent Jazz home game. Utah Jazz forward/center Derrick Favors and Mountain America Executive Vice President Marshall Paepke presented the check.

As part of the program, Utah Jazz President Randy Rigby, Jazz staff members and Paepke recently visited The Sharing Place, a homelike setting that hosts grief support groups.

“Thank you so much for helping to bring smiles back into the lives of each grieving child and family who attends a support group at The Sharing Place,” said Jill Macfarlane, development director for The Sharing Place. “It is not only an honor, but a privilege to be part of these families’ lives during their grief journey. The very generous ‘Pass It Along’ contribution from the Utah Jazz and Mountain America will allow us to continue to support these families during the darkest times of their lives.”

In addition to receiving a $5,000 donation, every organization selected as a “Pass It Along” recipient is treated to a special visit from the Utah Jazz, tickets to an upcoming game and in-arena recognition. Past recipients include South Davis Community Hospital, Camp K, Neuroworx, Shriners Hospitals for Children – Salt Lake City, Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Intermountain Area, Utah Youth Village, and Boys & Girls Clubs of South Valley.
