MARION, Ind.—The $577-million Via Credit Union here may have suffered a data breach.
According to a filing with the Maine Attorney General’s office, the CU recently identified suspicious activity within its computer network, leading to an investigation that confirmed a data breach by an unauthorized third party.
The possible breach occurred between Jan. 18 and Jan. 20, according to the filing.
During this time, an intruder accessed and acquired certain files containing the personal information of 60,853 individuals, according to the filing.
The compromised data includes names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, Visa credit card numbers and financial account numbers, the filing states.
