Wells Fargo Taps Credit Union Veteran To Lead Business Banking

SAN FRANCISCO--Former credit union CEO Dennis Devine has been appointed to lead business banking at Wells Fargo, according to a report by Reuters.

Devine, who previously served as chief executive officer of Alliant Credit Union, will head Wells Fargo’s business banking division, overseeing services for small and mid-sized companies. The move marks a transition from the credit union sector to one of the nation’s largest banks.

Reuters reported that the appointment comes as Wells Fargo continues efforts to strengthen its commercial and small-business operations. Devine brings extensive experience in retail and commercial banking, having led Alliant Credit Union through a period of growth and digital expansion.

At Wells Fargo, Devine is expected to focus on expanding lending and deposit relationships with business clients, an area viewed as strategically important for revenue growth.

Wells Fargo has been working to rebuild and modernize several core business lines in recent years, and the addition of Devine signals continued investment in its business banking platform, Reuters reported.
