Wisconsin CU League Names New President/CEO to Succeed the Retiring Brett Thompson

MADISON, Wis.– The Wisconsin Credit Union League has named a new president/CEO to succeed the retiring Brett Thompson, who is exiting after heading the association or 23 years.

Sarah Wainscott

The league has selected Sarah Wainscott to lead the organization.

Wainscott began her career at the league in 2010 as a government affairs assistant before becoming director of government affairs, VP-government affairs and, most recently, SVP-advocacy.

Wainscott is also an active Association of Wisconsin Lobbyists board member and serves on the Inaugural Advocacy Committee for the American Association of Credit Union Leagues, The League said.

Wainscott holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and communication arts and a master's degree in public affairs from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

‘Immensely Grateful’

“The board is immensely grateful for Brett's decades of servant leadership, which has made The Wisconsin Credit Union League one of the strongest Leagues in the nation,” Christine Moczynski, president and CEO of Prime Financial Credit Union and board chair of The League, said in a statement. “Brett’s steadfast leadership has built a solid foundation of advocacy, collaboration, and unity for Wisconsin’s credit unions and our members.  We are delighted Sarah Wainscott has accepted the role to continue building on this foundation and to carry The Wisconsin Credit Union League into the future.  We wish Brett the best in a well-deserved retirement.”

‘Extensive Experience’

Added Brandon Riechers, The League’s search committee chair and president and CEO of Royal Credit Union, in a statement, “Sarah Wainscott’s extensive experience and dedication to Wisconsin's credit unions made her the standout choice in our national search. She brings an unparalleled passion for The Credit Union Movement and a visionary approach that will undoubtedly take The League to even greater heights. Sarah’s proven track record in leading strategic initiatives and fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation make her the perfect choice to guide us through this exciting new chapter. We are confident that Sarah's leadership will inspire us all to rise to the occasion and embrace the opportunities ahead."

‘Honor of a Lifetime’

“I have had the privilege of seeing, firsthand, the passion and sincerity credit unions bring toward achieving financial wellbeing for all throughout my career at The League,” said Wainscott in a statement. “Having the opportunity to further champion Wisconsin credit unions and work to amplify their impact is the honor of a lifetime. I am eager to work closely with our board and members in this new capacity and am endlessly grateful for Brett's mentorship and the legacy he leaves behind.”
