MIAMI–It’s summer, and a new survey reveals what consumers are looking for in credit card travel perks.
The consumer survey was released by WalletHub, which also released its 2024 Credit Card Rental Car Insurance and Credit Card Travel Insurance studies to highlight some “credit card benefits that can save vacationers money this summer,” the company said.
Among the findings:
- Inflation Boosts Interest in Travel Benefits. Nearly three in five people say inflation has forced them to use credit card travel benefits more often.
- Untapped Credit Card Perks. The survey found 37% of Americans don’t take full advantage of their credit cards’ benefits.
- Most Popular Credit Card Travel Benefits: WalletHub found 34% of people want trip delay/cancellation insurance from their credit card, making it the most popular travel benefit, followed by insurance for accidents while traveling (28%), rental car insurance (22%), and airport lounge access (16%).
- Credit Cards Are Essential for Travel. According to the findings, 57% of people think it’s a bad idea to go on a trip without a credit card, with 96% of baby boomers sharing this sentiment.
- What You Don’t Know Can Cost You. Nearly one in three people are unaware of the travel benefits offered by their credit cards.
