FCU Redesigns Website To Improve Usage And Account Enrollment

Freedom CU

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Freedom CU has redesigned its website in a bid to make it easier to navigate, to boost online loan apps, as well as new account sign-ups.

CEO Barry Crosby said the redo was part of the credit union’s overall strategy to update its image.

“The website is part of an overall rebrand that included a new logo and launching of our Facebook and LinkedIn pages,” explained Crosby, who said the effort spun out of the CU’s strategic planning process last year. “The rebrand was an opportunity to freshen up our image and present a more contemporary look and design across all parts of the credit union—from our website and in-branch messaging to our advertising and promotional materials.”

The new site features a contemporary design, Crosby said, with enhanced navigation and organization. “Most of the information is organized within four areas: Personal Banking, Business Banking, Member Tools and About Us. Our new rates page is arranged in tabs so that all credit union rates can be accessed on one page. We also incorporated enhanced pull-down menus that appear when your cursor hovers over the four tabs.”

Crosby said the redo allowed Freedom to prominently position on its homepage its online loan application and deposit-opening processes. “Members can get pre-qualified for a mortgage on our website in just a few minutes,” said Crosby.

The $510-million Freedom rolled the site out in mid-June with a soft launch and began promoting it in August. “Member reaction has been very positive,” said Crosby, adding that visits are up. “Members tell us they like the new website, they say it is well organized and easy to use and they like that they can apply for a loan more quickly than before.”

Vibrant Creative, New York, designed the site and new logo for $30,000, Crosby said.
