Ways Big Data Boosts Business

LOMBARD, Ill.—There’s a lot of discussion about Big Data today, but the best advice comes from those who can share real-life examples of how data analytics is helping their credit unions and businesses, says Raddon.

During its inaugural Raddon Research Conference, Nov. 6–8, 2017, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago, Raddon will hold a panel discussion on data analytics that seeks to do just that by featuring several experts who are effectively using Big Data today and leveraging new forms of data, such as social media.

“We will have three panelists who are from the industry, who have worked in this area of Big Data, and will talk about their experiences—things they have done well and things that have not been that successful,” said Bill Handel, VP of research and product development, Raddon. “We will present real-world, practical experiences to help credit unions use Big Data in their organizations effectively.”

Organize The Information

Handel emphasized that since there is so much member data available, credit unions have to organize the information to make true long-range plans, but also move quickly on the insights.

“You have to begin doing something with this information right away,” Handel added, noting that many competitors, especially fintechs, are leveraging Big Data effectively right now.

“Fintech companies are really good at using data to drive their brand and simplify the customer experience,” said Raddon Senior Research Analyst Andrew Vahrenkamp.

Companies, said Vahrenkamp, are starting to include social media in their Big Data mix.

“Many institutions have a concept and understanding of how to use their member data,” said Andrew. “But how do you use unstructured social media data? How do you predict

which members are likely to respond to certain offers, or which members are ready for their next best product? We will address these topics and much more.”

Big Data is just one of many topics that will be covered during the three-day meeting that also presents great networking opportunities.

The meeting, said Handel, is designed for attendees to pick and choose what meets their needs and interests. Topics will include a keynote on big social media data by Dr. Jennifer Golbeck, a world leader in social media research, and breakout sessions including “Stimulating Growth in Today’s Lending Market,” “Leveraging Your Investment in Mobile Banking” and “Benchmarking Your Brand.”

Interactive Meeting

The new conference, said Handel, is a forum to share and discuss the latest consumer and small business research findings as well as their practical application through marketing and business strategies. The event will feature Raddon analysts, as well as nationally recognized speakers.

“We have purposely designed our sessions to be very interactive,” said Handel. “We are looking for the audience to tell us about their experiences to either support the research or even to refute it if that happens to be the case.”

“The Raddon Research Conference is an excellent networking opportunity for bank and credit union CEOs, product development specialists, and research and marketing experts,” said Vahrenkamp. “This is new and unique and will be really powerful. It’s a fascinating way for people to get together and see what is happening in the industry—not just in terms of what financial institutions are doing, but also what consumers are thinking and what banks and credit unions can do to take advantage of that.”
