Fiji Nursing CU Marks 40th Anniversary With Book

SUVA, Fiji–The Fiji Nursing and Associates Credit Union here is marking its 40th anniversary with a book detailing how it has grown since its founding.

Titled, “First Forty Years of the Fiji Nursing and Associates Credit Union 1978-2018: Thrift and Independence for the Nurses of Fiji,” the book launch also coincided with the FNACU annual general meeting in Suva, according to the Fiji Times.

Chief guest and long-serving member of FNACU, Mereani Tukuna, said credit unions had a role to play in the country.

"If we go back in history, credit unions sprang from the need to fulfill basic human needs in the great depression," Tukuna said.

She said since their conception, credit unions had been synonymous with meeting basic needs and improving the livelihood of its members.

Tukana invited all the nurses to read the book.
