SKIBBEREEN, Ireland—Skibbereen Credit Union here is leading a year-long photography project called “Credit Unions West Cork Wild Atlantic Year,” or West Cork WAY. The competition involved veteran photographer and life-long member Michael Minihane, who told local media he wants everyone to “get involved whether a budding photographer or just someone who likes to take snaps on your compact camera or smartphone” and to participate in the competition.
Donal O’Driscoll, manager of Skibbereen Credit Union, said the objective is to “show the world just what a beautiful corner of the earth we live in – from rugged headlands and sandy beaches, to colourful villages and towns all infused with history, heritage and tradition.”
The West Cork WAY Competition is looking for photos from each season of the year, and all photos will be posted on the credit union’s Facebook page with the winners selected by public vote. Details can be found at www.skibberreencu.ie.
