ONTARIO, Calif.–CU Direct will host a webcast on economic and lending trends on March 31. The Filene Research Institute, meanwhile, said an in-person event it had scheduled will now be virtual.
The CU Direct webcast will feature Dr. Elliot Eisenberg, who will provide a Q1 U.S. economic and lending forecast.
“Hear an in-depth analysis of the state of the economy and gain insight that your credit union needs to stay ahead of the competition,” CU Direct said. “Dr. Eisenberg will cover consumer credit trends, interest rates, unemployment and recession, health of the housing market, energy prices, wage growth, automobile sales, and more.”
Eisenberg is chief economist for GraphsandLaughs.

Filene Event Change
Separately, an in-person research event that the Filene Research Institute had planned to host in Boston has now gone virtual.
“The New Credit Union Experience” had been set for April 28-29 will now be online and will include the same speakers, content and resources, Filene said.
According to Filene, registration remains open https://fileneresearchinstitute.formstack.com/forms/boston2020. Filene said it would email registrants at least two weeks prior to the event with information about how to participate, access event materials and engage with keynote speakers such as Harvard Business School professor Dennis Campbell.
“We know that this is a change in plans that you may not have been expecting, but we feel that this is the right thing to do, and we will work with you to deliver on our promises for this event virtually instead of in-person,” Filene CEO Mark Meyer said in a statement.
