Corporate One Hosts First-Ever Leadership Experience Meeting

COLUMBUS, Ohio— Corporate One Federal Credit Union reported it has concluded its first-ever national member event, Leadership Experience 2017. Held in Nashville, Tenn., attendees from 29 credit unions in nine states gathered for the two-and-a-half day conference, which was designed specifically to help credit union CEOs/Managers and executive teams discover the business impact of strengthening their leadership roles, renew their vision on what it takes to become the kind of leader that inspires and empowers others, and walk away with practical skills they can use at their credit unions immediately, Corporate One said.

“It’s nice to strategically think away from the office on concepts like this, to become aware of new perspectives, and to work on growing oneself,” said Steve Bellas, CFO of Commonwealth Credit Union in Frankfurt, Ky. “The content was very thought-provoking, and it has really inspired and challenged me to become the best leader I can be.”

Corporate One said the event included an interactive keynote workshop presented by Shawn Vanderhoven, partner in the Wiseman Group, who engaged attendees in the research behind the New York Times Bestseller “Multipliers.” Along with an overview of the five disciplines that distinguish Multipliers from other leaders, attendees received skill-building opportunities and discovered the resoundingly positive and profitable effect that Multipliers have on organizations.

“We wanted to provide our member credit unions a forum where they could educate and develop themselves, their management teams and young professionals,” said Lee Butke, Corporate One’s President/CEO. “It’s vital that we foster strong and effective leadership at our credit unions if we are to continue to grow and successfully meet the evolving demands of the financial marketplace. It all starts with our people.”

Other presenters included Chris Munshaw, Director, Customer Experience for Avtex; Tansley Stearns, Chief Impact Officer for the Filene Research Institute; and James Dean Hicks, songwriter and VP of the Nashville Songwriters Association International.
