MEMPHIS, Tenn.– Southern Security FCU has expanded its field of membership to underserved portions of Memphis and an additional 18 counties in Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas. Southern Security partnered with Dollar Associates, LLC, to expand the field of membership.
According to Dollar Associates, the goal of the credit union’s expansion into the additional areas is to provide a “wide array of affordable financial products and services and financial education resources to residents, organizations, and businesses in the areas.”
The $234-million Southern Security said it believes its products and services paired with its outstanding record of member service and education, will positively impact the lives of additional prospective members and underserved area residents who, before now, would not have been eligible to join the credit union.

Nearly 300 Census Tracts
According to Dollar Associates, the 18 counties included in the expansion of the field of membership for Southern Security include some in which whole county is not included; however, underserved areas of the county are included. A total of 296 census tracts were added, with an estimated potential membership of 1,104,749.
