ATLANTA–FMSI has unveiled a new schedule gap management capability as part of an enhancement to its Omnix Staff Scheduler. The new functionality improves float staff management, and helps to quickly validate last-minute staffing needs at each branch—both imperative features towards better optimizing the branch while maintaining high levels of service, the company said.
“We are constantly seeking feedback from our clients, and many of them have been asking for a schedule gap management component to our Omnix Staff Scheduler,” said Meredith Deen, president of FMSI. “With varying degrees of traffic at each unique retail environment, it can be difficult for schedulers to determine the precise number of staff to adequately cover the fluctuating demand—especially when unscheduled absences occur, like employees calling in sick. The new schedule gap management component takes the guesswork out of the process by producing detailed forecasted activity and staffing need charts—helping institutions to quickly determine the aggregate impact of placing specific float employees at different locations.”
FMSI said the new scheduling solution is a web-based system that creates optimum work schedules—matching employee work preferences with account-holder traffic patterns at the branch, based on the analysis of historic and forecasted transactions. According to the company, the FMSI scheduler provides:
- Full branch scheduling (now including platform/lobby employees)
- Better cross utilization of employees within the branch
- Payroll-based scheduling to need and tasks, plus idle time identified
- User-defined rotations, including fair distribution of “less desirable shifts”
- More robust task assignments
- Enhanced resource exchange sharing and Float Pool Management
- Smart-phone compatibility, so your staff can retrieve their schedules on their phones
“Filling in unscheduled branch employee absences has been a pain point for many financial institutions for years,” Deen adds. “By forecasting account holder traffic and identifying gaps based on last-minute employee absences, the new enhancement allows management to quickly schedule the right employees, at the right place, at the right time.”
