GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.–Four client credit unions of CU*Answers were recognized during the Michigan CU League’s recent annual convention. The four credit unions are on the CU*BASE platform. Frankenmuth CU was awarded the MCUL’s Innovation Award ($400 million+); Safe Harbor CU the winner of Outstanding CU of the Year (small asset), and Alpena Alcona Area CU was recognized as the MCUF award winner for Excellence in Consumer Education.
“I’m proud of the work the leaders in our network are doing to advance the credit union mission; all those credit unions MCUL recognized are well-deserving of the awards they received,” said Randy Karnes, CU*Answers CEO. “We’re excited to continue collaborating with our credit unions to provide the products and services they need, so they can focus on serving their communities with excellence.”
All four credit unions are owners of the 100% credit union-owned CUSO. CEOs Vickie Schmitzer of Frankenmuth and Don Mills of Alpena Alcona Area are currently on the CU*Answers Board of Directors.
Separately, CU*Answers said it has extended its employment contract with current CFO Bob Frizzle to 2023. Frizzle, who joined CU*Answers in 1997, has been instrumental in launching major initiatives such as the cuasterisk.com network of CUSOs, as well as the purchase of majority ownership in eDOC Innovations, the company said.
CU*Answers added that under Frizzle’s guidance, CU*Answers was able to launch innovative programs including the Spirit of CU*Answers scholarship, a de novo program providing free data processing for credit union start-ups, and the Investment Grant initiative.
“Bob’s leadership has been critical to the success of the CUSO these last 20 years,” said CEO Randy Karnes. “I look forward to him continuing to be a strong force on the Executive Council leading up to and beyond CU*Answers’ 50-year anniversary in 2020.”
