FREMONT, Mich.–Gerber FCU said it has selected Buzz Points, the rewards program designed to specifically support the ‘Bank Local, Buy Local’ movement, to its members.
Buzz Points is a free rewards program that allows consumers to earn rewards wherever they shop, offering double the points when users choose locally-owned businesses over national chains, according to the company. Gerber FCU members enrolled in the program will earn points automatically through debit card purchases that can be tracked, managed and redeemed easily for gift cards, cash cards and donations to local nonprofits using the Buzz Points web interface or mobile app, the company said.
“Partnering with Buzz Points gives us the opportunity to enhance the value we provide our members,” said John Buckley, President/CEO of Gerber Federal Credit Union. “Not only will Buzz Points be the first debit rewards program available in the region, but it will also allow us to continue to deliver on our commitment to helping our local businesses thrive.”
With a continually expanding network of 82,000+ locally owned businesses nationwide, Buzz Points users can accrue double points for shopping locally, wherever they are in the United States, the company said. In additional to earning more points for local shopping, Buzz Points said it also offers users gain access to exclusive offers, rewards and virtual punch cards from Preferred Local Businesses within the Buzz Points network. This allows users to stay in the loop and be notified of relevant offers when they walk in the door of a favorite local business and earn extra perks for being a “regular.”
