HONOLULU– Hickam Federal Credit Union’s (FCU) has won a design award for its Windward Mall branch. The credit union won the award in the New Commercial division at the BIA–Hawaii Building Industry Design & Construction Awards for the facility that was designed by Chesterfield, Mo.-based NewGround.
The award was presented to a commercial project up to 7,500 square feet for its attention to details through special amenities or design features. Projects are judged based on creativity, materials used, visual appeal, environmental and sustainability, functionality, principles of design, value, and interior space.
As Hickam FCU’s seventh Oahu location, NewGround said it provided design and construction management services for the 2,054-square-foot branch located inside Windward Mall in Kaneohe, Hawaii.
Vibrant Colors
“Utilizing vibrant colors, shapes, and patterns in the floor, walls, and ceiling materials, the well-illuminated interior draws the Windward community into the branch to experience personalized member services,” said NewGround. “The new branch features an inviting, contemporary glass storefront with a colorful ATM area for after-hours use.”
Amenities include interactive teller pods with cash recyclers, custom member service stations, mortgage loan services, and space for investment and retirement advice.
“It was an honor to be recognized by BIA-Hawaii for our work designing Hickam FCU’s Windward Mall branch,” said Kevin Blair, president and CEO at NewGround. “It was a privilege to partner with them to bring their vision to life.”
