Magnolia FCU Selects Bankjoy For Mobile, Online Banking

JACKSON, Miss.—The $142 million Magnolia Federal Credit Union has selected Bankjoy to provide seamless mobile and online banking to its 23,000 members.

Michael Waylett

“We wanted a one-stop shop for our mobile app that had a compatible interface with its online banking counterpart,” said President/CEO Michael Waylett, who took the top position at Magnolia in May 2016. “Bankjoy’s mobile app is very similar in functionality and design to its online banking, which was a huge plus. We wanted our members to have the same experience from their phone that they’d have if they were banking online.”

Magnolia was previously using two other mobile vendors: One for mobile banking, and another for mobile deposits. Members were forced to sign into two different apps to complete routine transactions, according to the credit union.

“We’ve worked hard to improve our mobile and online presence,” Waylett said. “Wherever feasible, we need to be able to offer all the bells, whistles, and fancy gadgets that the big banks offer. We don’t want to give our members any reason not to bring all their financial needs to us. Having sleek, functional, and efficient mobile and online solutions is paramount in maintaining a loyal membership base.”

Magnolia uses Symitar’s Episys core system and is aiming for a Jan. 1, 2017 launch date to go live with Bankjoy’s mobile and online applications.

Michael Duncan

“Bankjoy is proud to partner with Magnolia to help the credit union continue its tradition of excellent member service,” said CEO Michael Duncan. “By providing a fully branded omnichannel experience that offers crucial services like check deposits, loan applications, travel notifications, financial goal management and lost/stolen card blocking, Magnolia can continue to differentiate itself from the competition in its market, and attract new members while retaining existing ones.”

The Royal Oak, Mich.-based Bankjoy was selected to present its banking API as part of the prestigious Finovate showcase in September 2016.
