McKechnie Named Senior Partner by Total Spectrum

WASHINGTON--John McKechnie, well-known to credit unions for his career in CUNA's Washington office and later at NCUA, has been named Senior Partner of the Washington, D.C.-based public policy and advocacy firm Total Spectrum.

Mr. McKechnie joined Total Spectrum as Senior Vice President in March 2011 following a five-year stint as Public and Congressional Affairs Director at the National Credit Union Administration. His role at the agency spanned two Presidential administrations, and entailed both legislative and communications activities.  Prior to his service at NCUA and CUNA, McKechnie also worked as a congressional aide.

Prior to January, McKechnie held the title of Partner at Total Spectrum, where his lobbying and public affairs practice includes a variety of financial services clients.  His new title reflects his expanded role in directing the firm’s advocacy and outreach functions.

“John’s public affairs responsibilities on behalf of his wide-ranging portfolio of clients will be unchanged,” noted Managing Partner Steve Gordon. “However, given that his expertise is being utilized to shape and direct Total Spectrum’s expanding efforts in both state and federal arenas, the new title is appropriate and richly deserved. We’re thankful to have John’s experience directing the firm’s growth.”
