TAMPA—Trellance said it is partnering with the Filene Research Institute to sponsor their latest Center of Excellence, the Credit Union of the Future, Trellance announced.
According to Trellance and Filene, the Credit Union of the Future seeks to understand “what credit union members of the future expect from their financial institution and provide guidance to today’s credit unions so they can meet, and exceed, those expectations.”
Trellance added that the “future is decidedly digital,” but the Credit Union of the Future is researching what those digital channels include.
Areas of focus include:
- Identifying and maintaining credit union values
- Using data to create actionable insights
- Using innovation technology to disrupt the banking industry and create new opportunities
‘An Obvious Choice’
“The Credit Union of the Future was an obvious choice for us to choose as our next sponsorship,” said Trellance President and CEO Tom Davis. “We just concluded our sponsorship of the data analytics Center of Excellence with Filene, which provided invaluable research to credit unions across the country about the value of data. Now, we want credit unions to understand the power of technology and help get those resources into their hands.”
As the company explained, each Center of Excellence has a topic it pursues for three to five years, and has 10 sponsors. The goal is to have the sponsors share in the research and function as a group of peers, the organization said.
Access to the research conducted in the Credit Union of the Future will allow Trellance to identify areas of credit union need and offer solutions based on their own observations, the company explained.
‘Excited’ About Topic
“We’re excited to be pursuing this topic,” said Lamont Black, the Filene Fellow heading up the Credit Union of the Future. “We know the digital age is here and we want to help credit unions embrace the technology available to them and reap the benefits. Trellance is a great partner for this topic as a credit union technology provider.”
Black, a professor at Northwestern University is known to many in credit unions for his appearances at various events where he has discussed digital transformation, crypto and blockchain.
