SARASOTA, Fla.– Achieva Credit Union’s seventh annual Run for GOOD 5K, Kids’ Run and Dog Walk helped participants be a part of the good. People and pooches alike walked and ran to help benefit local Sarasota schools.
The event gathered more than 442 5K and Kids’ Run participants who completed their course through crushed cinder, concrete and grass at Payne Park.
Awards were given to the overall finishers in several male and female age group winners. All Kids’ Run participants received a finisher’s medal, and Dog Walk participants received a special dog goody. Frankie in his Batman costume, complete with superhero props, took the prize in the doggie costume contest.
“It was definitely another event for the books,” said Achieva CEO Gary Regoli. “It was great to see all the people and their pets come out and take part in the good. Achieva has been able to raise a lot of money for local classrooms, but we owe a lot of that to our community members who take our events to new heights.”
All participants were given a commemorative Dri-Fit shirt and a free post-run breakfast provided by Surf & Turf food truck.
The Achieva Credit Union began hosting the Run for GOOD in 2011 as the Reindeer Trot and rebranded it in 2015. This past year, Achieva was able to contribute $25,000 to provide 24 classroom grants, which is where the funds from Run for GOOD are donated. These direct grants are administered by the Achieva Foundation, a 501(c)(3) Corporation and distributed through the Education Foundation of Sarasota County. Overall, this foundation has raised more than $305,000 for local classrooms throughout the communities they serve.
