ORLANDO–Addition Financial Credit Union’s Addition Financial Foundation highlighted a number of local nonprofits during a Community Giving Celebration.
During the event at Addition Financial Arena at the University of Central Florida, the Foundation donated $175,000 to organizations that benefit youth, education, underserved communities, economic development and more.
The Addition Financial Foundation launched in 2021 as the philanthropic arm of Addition Financial Credit Union. The Foundation’s mission is to foster empowerment in our community through financial education and charitable giving.
This year’s award recipients include:
Boys & Girls Club of St. Cloud
FUTURES Foundation for Volusia County Schools
Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka
LGBT+ Center Orlando, Mills Food Bank
The Greatest Investment Girls Empowerment Program
Each nonprofit selected was nominated by an Addition Financial Credit Union team member.
“The Addition Financial Foundation exists for these types of opportunities to give back to the community through incredible organizations making a real difference in the lives of people in Central Florida, “said Cristina Lehman, executive director of the Addition Financial Foundation and emcee of this year’s event. “What has really been rewarding though, is building these relationships. Not only is the Foundation building a bridge to these nonprofits, but we’re bringing them together as a group to find new ways to achieve our missions and help those that need it most.”
The credit union said the connections made during the event extended beyond the nonprofits honored. Local leaders from government, school districts and the business community, as well as members of the media also attended the breakfast and networking hour.
The Community Giving Celebration also featured a performance by the University of Central Florida steel drum band and special appearances by UCF’s Spirit Team and UCF’s popular mascot Knightro.
