HARRISBURG, Penn.–Pennsylvania’s largest credit union, PSECU, has bid farewell to Frank J. Breiner, who officially retired from his position on board after 45 years of dedication to the well-being of the credit union and its 430,000 members.
“To look back and be able to say that you’ve contributed nearly half a century of your time, enthusiasm, commitment, and expertise to a cause in which you believe is a truly commendable accomplishment,” said PSECU President Greg Smith. “On behalf of the credit union, its more than 850 employees, and its membership throughout Pennsylvania and beyond, I thank Frank Breiner for choosing PSECU, and the greater credit union movement, as causes to champion. His contributions have helped guide our growth and continued success over the years, and for that we are very grateful.”
Since joining the credit union’s Board of Directors in 1973, Breiner served in multiple leadership capacities, holding the roles of Treasurer for 24 years (1977-1996 and 1999-2004), Secretary/Assistant Treasurer for eight years (2006-2014), and Member of the Executive Committee for more than 30 years (1978-1996, 1999-2004, and 2006-2014). During his Board tenure, Breiner also contributed significantly to the Scholarship Committee and Audit Committee.
“Serving alongside Frank Breiner on the PSECU Board of Directors has been both a privilege and an honor,” said PSECU Board Chair Joe Sassano. “As one of our longest serving board members who has seen the credit union grow from a $2.7 million institution in 1973 to a $5 billion one today, Frank has a breadth of knowledge and understanding of PSECU and its workings that is inspiring to say the least. On many occasions he has been essential to our efforts to uphold PSECU’s vision of being recognized as our members’ trusted financial partner. We appreciate all he has done for our betterment, and we wish him well as he moves on to his next chapter.”
Breiner is a retired Commonwealth of Pennsylvania employee with more than 40 years of service. He was previously employed by the Office of Budget as Comptroller for the Department of Transportation, and is also a U.S. Army veteran. He studied Business Administration at Saint Francis University in Loretto, PA. He also attended the University Center, Harrisburg, for Accounting.
An active member of the community, Breiner has volunteered his time and efforts to the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Meals on Wheels, and the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra.
Upon his retirement, the PSECU Board of Directors appointed Breiner as an Emeritus Director.
