MANSFIELD, Texas–Allied Federal Credit Union employees and their family members participated in a 5k Walk/Run for the World’s Only St. Paddy’s Pickle Parade and Palooza.
The event is organized by a volunteer non-profit group that provides college scholarships through the Mansfield ISD Education Foundation Scholarship Program. It also donates money to the Feed the Kids program.
Allied FCU employees participated in this event as part of the credit union’s Casual for a Cause monthly outreach initiative. Casual for a Cause allows Allied FCU employees to pay for dressing casually at work. The money donated by the team supports a different cause each month, which is selected by an employee-based committee. Staff chose the St. Paddy’s Pickle Parade and Palooza because it enabled them donate time and money to children in the community, the CU said.
“Community outreach to us is more than writing a check. It's about showing up and participating, too," said Tonia Clark, Allied FCU CEO. "This isn't just a city where we come to work every day. Our employees live here. We shop here. We have a vested interest in supporting the kids who live and go to school here.”
