Altura CU Awards Scholarships To High School Seniors

This year, Altura awarded $1,000 scholarships to 42 students from throughout Riverside County through its Altura Scholarship Foundation. Since its founding in 1993, the Altura Foundation has awarded more than $430,000 to 462 local students.

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Altura Credit Union has awarded $42,000 in college scholarships to local high school seniors planning to attend college in the fall.

The $1,000 scholarships were awarded to students graduating from Riverside County, Calif., public and private high schools by the Altura Scholarship Foundation, the educational foundation for Altura Credit Union, headquartered in Riverside County.

Of the 42 scholarships, 25 are general scholarships, five are awarded to students in AVID programs, and 10 are specifically for students planning to attend the University of California, Riverside. Plus two memorial scholarships were awarded. Nearly 200 students applied for scholarships this year. The program is open to students who attend public or private high schools in Riverside County.

Students were selected for scholarships based on their academic record, financial need, extracurricular activities and an essay detailing their college goals.
