RIVERSIDE, Calif. – Altura Credit Union recently honored 5,000 military personnel and their families at the 46th Annual Military Appreciation Picnic at March Air Reserve Base in Riverside, Calif.
Altura and its two-dozen volunteers joined with other local businesses and community partners for the event hosted by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce.
Held at LeMay Park on the base, the picnic is free for military families thanks to the sponsorships provided by many local and military-related companies who not only underwrite the event’s costs, but also provide about 300 volunteers.
The volunteers cooked and served food to the thousands at the park, and staffed a miniature amusement park and inflatable play structures for the kids.
“This is such a feel-good event for all of us at Altura,” says Tina Covington, Altura’s vice president of Business Development. “It’s an opportunity for us to thank these individuals and families who sacrifice so much to keep all of us safe.”
