Altura's Tina Covington Recognized with Award

RIVERSIDE, Calif.– Altura Credit Union Vice President of Sales and Business Development Tina Covington was recognized with an award  for her successful chairmanship of the Corona-Norco Unified School District’s annual Career Day.  The Chairman’s Award of Excellence Service was presented by the Corona Chamber of Commerce at a special luncheon that honored local military personnel.

The Corona Expo and Career Day is a collaborative event sponsored by the local school district, chamber and Altura Credit Union. It was created to assist students with all aspects of job-hunting, including writing an effective resume, completing a job application and preparing for a successful job interview.

In addition to chairing the event, Covington also conducted the “Interview Skills Tool Kit” workshop. Covington said of career day, “It is a terrific way to make a difference in a student’s life. It was exciting to help prepare the students for their future careers.”

More than 650 students participated at nine Corona-Norco high schools. In addition to Covington, three other Altura staff – AJ Warner, Denise Hunt and Sonia Gil – assisted students with resume writing. Covington also recruited local staffing agencies to review resumes and provide positive feedback to assist the 140 students preparing for mock interviews with a variety of businesses in the community.
