RIVERDALE, Utah— America First Credit Union here is once again offering members the opportunity to skip a loan payment during the holiday season to help fund the “Warm the Soles of Kids” initiative, which provides shoes for children in need.
From November 2018 through January 2019, members can participate in the annual ‘Skip a Payment’ program giving members the opportunity to skip monthly loan payments for the holiday months for $25. A portion of that payment will then go towards purchasing shoes for the ‘Warm the Soles of Kids’ project.
Through the “Warm the Soles” project, America First collects monetary donations to purchase new shoes for economically disadvantaged children throughout Utah and in the Las Vegas area. In 2017, the “Skip a Payment” program, combined with generous donations from employees and members, provided more than 1,800 pairs of shoes to the program.
“The Warm the Soles of Kids initiative is very dear to our hearts at America First,” said John B. Lund, CEO and president of America First Credit Union. “Not only are we directly helping children in the communities we serve, but we’re also giving some financial relief to our members during the busy holiday months.”
America First employees will visit several schools in December, including Midvale Elementary, Dixie Sun Elementary, Lakeview Elementary, Hurricane Elementary, Hill Air Force Base, Gibson Middle School and Red Rock Elementary, to hand out gift-wrapped shoes and host a festive holiday celebration complete with Santa Claus and pizza.
