Astera CU Staff Donate Toys, Presents to Charities

LANSING, Mich.–Employees of Astera Credit Union donated $5,000 worth of toys and presents to the Child and Family Charities, which provide a full-spectrum of support to foster children, youth and families in need in the Lansing area.

This year, to support Child and Family Charities, each participating Astera Credit Union employee selected a child and received their holiday wish list along with $100 to purchase as much as they could for that child. Astera employees once again, went above and beyond as most went over budget to ensure the kids supported via this program have a brighter holiday season. Astera has donated to Child and Family Charities every Christmas holiday for over 10 years, and is ecstatic to report that this is their biggest donation year to date.

Astera said it strives to make a difference not only in their members’ financial lives but by also finding ways to support the local community; whether it’s building relationships, providing a financial solution or volunteering time at a local charity.

“We’re grateful for the opportunity to give back to our community,” says Martin Carter, CEO and President of Astera Credit Union. “The holidays can be a hard time for a lot of families, and I’m proud of our staff for donating not only their time, but their own money to make a huge impact in other’s lives.”

Astera said it supports several charities throughout the year including Making Strides, the Greater Lansing Food Bank, the United Way and Child and Family Charities to name a few. In 2017 they donated more than $20,000 to several important causes and hope to make 2018 an even bigger success.
