SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine– The Atlantic Federal Credit Union Foundation awarded a $10,000 grant to ProsperityME to help promote, teach and enhance financial skills and literacy.
The Atlantic Foundation, established in 2021, is focused on helping nonprofit organizations that strengthen, support, and promote the common good in the communities served by Atlantic Federal Credit Union.
Dedicated to helping Maine's immigrants and refugees build successful, rewarding lives, ProsperityME helps to provide basic money management understanding and skillsets to enable new Mainers to attain financial stability.
"The proposal from ProsperityME captured the vision of what the Foundation was hoping to achieve,” said Atlantic FCU Foundation President Chris McGorrill. “We believe in the value of helping others take charge of their financial situation, gain new skills, and develop a better financial balance in their lives."
Added Claude Rwaganje, ProsperityME executive director, "ProsperityME is thrilled and honored to be the very first recipient of a $10,000 grant from the Atlantic Federal Credit Union Foundation. This grant will support our efforts to help recent immigrants acquire the knowledge they need to be financially successful and feel empowered to invest in themselves and their newfound community."
