BIRMINGHAM, Ala.–Avadian Credit Union partnered with Magic Moments to surprise 17-year old Garrett McQueen of Jasper with his magic moment.
Garrett, who was recently diagnosed with Leukemia, is a student of Curry High School and a big basketball fan. Garrett's diagnosis has taken a toll on him and his family as he moved to being home-schooled due to his chemotherapy treatments, the credit union said. One of his favorite things to do at home is to watch the wildly popular television show, The Walking Dead.
Employees of Avadian Credit Union along with several students from the Key Club at McAdory High School dressed as zombies to deliver the news he would be going to meet The Walking Dead cast and tour the set.
"We were so committed and honored to present Garrett with this moment. For many of us, we weren't even familiar with the show. It was just a great opportunity to be able to partner with Magic Moments to give Garrett and his family something exciting to look forward to. We hope this trip is a welcome diversion and an experience he'll never forget," said Stanton Davis of Avadian.
Magic Moments is the only wish-granting organization dedicated exclusively to children in Alabama suffering with chronic life threatening diseases.
