ARLINGTON, Va. — The National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors (NASCUS) reported that Regulator Board Vice Chair, Katie Averill, has been confirmed for a third consecutive term as Iowa's Superintendent of Credit Unions with a unanimous vote of Senate approval. This appointment, made by the Governor and subject to Iowa Senate confirmation, is a crucial position in the state, charged with overseeing the supervision, control, and enforcement of laws, bylaws, rules, and regulations pertaining to the organization and operation of credit unions under a state charter, NASCU said. "I am proud to be unanimously confirmed by the Iowa Senate to continue to serve Iowans as the Superintendent of the Credit Union Division," commented Averill. Averill's confirmation was a resounding success. In Iowa, a two-thirds majority vote is required for confirmation. However, all 50 senators voted in favor of Averill’s reconfirmation, with none opposed. As the Superintendent of Credit Unions, she leads the Credit Union Division to protect the interests and rights of more than 1.5 million members across all 99 counties, with $36 billion in regulated assets.
