Berenstain Bears Financial Literacy Network Forms Advisory Board

BROOMALL, Penn. – Two months after launching its signature financial literacy suite, The Berenstain Bears Financial Literacy Program, Credit Union Network for Financial Literacy has formed an advisory board.

Members include Mike Berenstain, author and heir of the famed children’s literature series bearing the same name, along with Julie Ferguson of JRF Consulting Services, and Guy Messick of Messick & Lauer, attorneys and counselors to credit unions and CUSOs.

“One of the core values of credit unions is the promotion of financial thrift to their members through financial literacy,” Messick said. “I do not know of another credit union that has partnered with such nationally known children’s characters. I know this program is effective because I’ve seen the excitement in children’s eyes when the Bears tell their story through the book and in person.”

Also on CUNFL’s current advisory board are Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union CEO and President John D. Unangst and Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union VP of Education Rick Durante.
