CAP COM Cares Foundation Launches CAPCOM Cares Tour

ALBANY, N.Y.–CAP COM Federal Credit Union and the CAP COM Cares Foundation launched their 3rd Annual CAP COMCares Tour. The program’s initiative aims to “share the care” by performing random acts of kindness throughout local communities – while encouraging others to also give back. More than 50 CAP COM volunteers were involved in 20 surprise visits with the aim of creating a movement across the Capital Region.

Visits featured a variety of acts of kindness, including preparing meals, and packaging wish-list items to be  delivered to shelters and youth organizations. One afternoon was devoted to delivering gift cards to credit union member companies and professional organizations. Recipients were asked to shop for nonprofits of their choice. Complimentary coffee giveaways, meals and deliveries of sweet treats – as well as a surprise ice cream social – were part of the tour, too. A dozen volunteers helped repaint the interior of the 100 year-old YWCA building in Troy.

The non-profits selected to receive random acts of kindness were chosen by CAP COM employees via a company-wide survey. Employees were asked to consider organizations with the greatest need.

The CAP COM Cares Tour extended to all 11 CAP COM branches throughout the week. Members who visit the credit union were randomly selected to receive gift cards to local retailers. More than 200 gift cards will be distributed.

“The CAP COM Cares Tour focuses on our employees giving back, and also aims to create a contagious movement of sharing the care,” noted Amanda Goyer, CAP COM’s Community Relations Manager. “The goal is to deliver lasting experiences for those we encounter, including CAP COM members, foundation partners, and the Capital Region community.”
