WATERFORD, Conn.–Charter Oak FCU said it will open a new full-service branch at Mohegan Sun in spring 2017 as part of its continuing multi-year expansion of its branch network in eastern Connecticut.
"This new branch will offer Mohegan Sun employees all the amenities of our other full-service branches while being conveniently located on site for easy access by the casino's employees, tribal members and tribal employees," said Brian A. Orenstein, Charter Oak's President and Chief Executive Officer.
The new Mohegan Sun Branch will be Charter Oak's 16th branch to serve its membership in eastern Connecticut. Since 2013, Charter Oak has engaged in an aggressive expansion of its branch network, opening three new branches in New London and Windham counties as well as extensively remodeling its branch serving the city of Groton.
"No other financial institution in eastern Connecticut has committed to the kind of branch expansion that we've undertaken, and it's a direct indicator of the tremendous growth and financial strength this credit union has experienced over the past several years," he said. "We've worked very hard to be able to offer our members the most convenient and largest branch system of any local financial institution serving eastern Connecticut," Orenstein said.
The new Mohegan Sun Branch will be the fourth specialized branch within Charter Oak's branch system. It will be located in Mohegan Sun's Eagleview Employee Center and will exclusively serve Mohegan Sun employees, tribal members and tribal employees.
Charter Oak's other specialty branches are located at the Electric Boat campus in New London, as well as its high school branches at Robert E. Fitch High School in Groton and Killingly High School in the Dayville section of Killingly.
The new Mohegan Branch will offer all the features of Charter Oak's other full-service branches, including teller and Member Service Representative stations and will also include multiple ATMs and a night depository box. The new branch is expected to open after construction-related work is completed at the banking facility in the Eagleview complex, the credit union said.
