Columbia CU Wins Corporate Philanthropy Award

VANCOUVER, Wash. – Columbia Credit Union has been honored with a 2017 Corporate Philanthropy Award based on contributions made in 2016.

The award was announced at the Portland Business Journal’s Corporate Philanthropy Luncheon and is the second time Columbia Credit Union has been recognized with this award. The credit union previously received the award in 2014 for its community support in 2013.

The Portland Business Journal's annual Corporate Philanthropy Awards are a celebration of community service and corporate giving. Awards were presented in four categories based on a company’s size, and Columbia Credit Union was one of 10 companies honored in the “medium size” category.

“We are proud to be recognized by the Portland Business Journal as a socially responsible organization,” said Steve Kenny, President and CEO of Columbia Credit Union. “Supporting the communities we serve is an important part of our values. We make it a top priority to partner with local non-profit organizations that help make life better where our members live, work and play.”

Columbia Credit Union said it contributes to local non-profits several ways: participating in fundraising and sponsorships; by taking part in a variety of basic-needs supply drives; and through volunteer hours. In 2016, Columbia Credit Union donated $320,000 to 75 nonprofits. Their management team volunteered 1,521 hours, and executives actively served on boards and standing committees of key community organizations.
