LEXINGTON, Ky. — A “historic philanthropic donation” of $2 million has been made by Commonwealth Credit Union to support the construction of Baptist Health Hamburg, set to open in the spring of 2024.
The donation is the largest received in Baptist Health Foundation Lexington’s history.
“We believe that health is the first step to wealth,” said CCU President and CEO Karen Harbin. “Our donation is a symbol of our commitment to bettering the lives of Kentuckians, and it’s one we know will have a lasting impact. Together, we’re making a difference – empowering the community through improved general health and financial wellness.”
With this expansion of Baptist Health, thousands of patients will receive more convenient care through expanded outpatient services for cancer, cardiovascular, breast imaging and diagnostics, emergency care, orthopedics, and surgery.

Plans for the new facilities include an emergency department, outpatient surgery center, a cancer center, diagnostic services including breast imaging, and medical office building space.
