AUBURN HILLS, Mich.–Although the holidays may still be a couple of months away, Cornerstone Community Financial CU said some very deserving youngsters at Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit and ProMedica Russell J. Ebeid Children's Hospital in Toledo are receiving hundreds of gifts this week, courtesy of the CU’s “Be a Game Changer” campaign.
Throughout September, Cornerstone Community Financial (CCF) hosted its “Be a Game Changer” toy drive, a 30-day collection in support of Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. Members of CCF, and the community-at-large, answered the call to “Be a Game Changer,” CCF said, by donating hundreds of new games in all shapes, sizes and varieties. CCF then matched every public donation, item-for-item.
This was CCF’s 8th annual toy drive, and the credit union has donated more than 11,000 new toys, games and stuffed animals over the past eight years.
The game donations, which came in from all over the Midwest region and as far away as Nevada, have now all been counted and sorted. This week, the hospitals and its patients will be receiving a delivery of approximately 1,000 (500 for each hospital) brand new card games, trivia games, dice games, board games, video games and more, which will be used in inpatient units, playrooms, waiting areas and patient gift closets.
